What we cover

Six things, every week, all about leaving the house. Nothing bougie for the sake of it.

  1. This Weekend

Eight plans for Friday to Sunday with every fact you need. The email and the Friday carousel.

    Every Friday
  2. Coffee & Sweets

New cafés, karak worth the drive, bakeries, the dessert everyone queues for, and whether it's worth the queue.

    Weekly
  3. Restaurants

New openings and cheap good food across the city, with a real price per person, not a brunch package.

    Weekly
  4. Events & Pop-ups

Markets, food pop-ups, festivals and one-night things, mostly free or cheap.

    When it's on
  5. Workshops

Clay, painting, cooking, making things with your hands next to strangers.

    Monthly roundup
  6. Sports

Run clubs, padel, group rides, cheap seats at real games. All levels unless we say otherwise.

    Weekly

New here?

The cheap basics we wish someone had told us in week one. Checked 24 Oct 2026; Nol fares from rta.ae.

  1. Get a Silver Nol card

Metro, tram and buses run on it, and bank cards don't tap at the gates. It costs AED 25 with AED 19 credit; most trips are AED 3, 5 or 7.50 depending on zones.

  2. Cross the Creek for AED 1

The wooden abra between Bur Dubai and Deira Old Souq is AED 1 per crossing, cash only. Then walk the souks: looking is free.

  3. Galleries cost nothing

Alserkal Avenue in Al Quoz is free to walk in, and it's where What The Food happens this weekend.

  4. Beaches are free too

Kite Beach and the other public beaches have no entry fee. Go after 4pm when it cools down.

  5. Metro manners

No eating or drinking on the Metro, even water; fines apply. Each train has a women and children section and a Gold Class cabin.

  6. Join one run club

The quickest way to know people here. Most community runs are free, and this Friday five of them run Kite Beach together.
